Jenna Coleman was presented
to Her Majesty The Queen today when the major new extension of the BBC’s
Broadcasting House was officially opened.
The Queen, who previously
re-opened the refurbished old Broadcasting House in April 2006, toured the new building including the BBC Newsroom at the heart of the complex. The Director of Television, Danny Cohen, introduced The Queen to a selection of BBC presenters including Sir Bruce Forsyth and David Dimbleby. Jenna Coleman, who returns as Clara in the Doctor Who anniversary special in November, had the honour of meeting The Queen, appropriately enough by the TARDIS!
The Queen first toured the old
Broadcasting House in 1939 while still Princess Elizabeth, with King George VI, Queen Elizabeth and Princess Margaret, and a highlight of her latest visit was her unveiling of a contemporary commemorative plaque embedded with the iconic image of the early BBC microphone.
